Bike ride from Hamburg to Berlin, alongside the Elbe

The bicycle tour starts in the heart of Hamburg, alongside the Elbe and with a little turnaround over Potsdam to Berlin. Depending on your shape, you can do it in one go or pace down and split the whole track over some days. There are plenty of guesthouses along the way, that are ready to host some cyclists.

The straight way, in one go
Hamburg – Berlin
320km – 1667 hm

For the straight way, I chose to start in Bergedorf. In Geesthacht you change on the other side of the river, from Schleswig Holstein nach Niedersachsen, where you keep on going on the Elbe cycling path to Bleckede. One of the few ascends is the Kniepenberg with up to 16%. Reaching the top you have a perfect view over the Elbe valley. Getting closer to Berlin you leave the Elbe behind you and follow the river Havel. Via Potsdam you can cycle into Berlin very relaxed and without cars on the Kronprinzessinnenweg and the Königsweg.
